On behalf of the Darien Men's Association, I want to extend my condolences to Bill's family. Not only was he an active leader and contributor to our activities for many years, but more broadly he set an example of service to Darien. It's hard to think of Bill without also thinking of John Barston, his close friend, now also sadly passed. Bill and John founded the "Happy Wanderers," as noted in his obituary, and together they led exploration of many New York neighborhoods -- one of our most popular activities, and one that continues to this day. Bill also organized the March Madness and Super Bowl contests in partnership with John. I have no doubt that this drew upon his computer programmer and systems analyst background.
