Shocked to find Eddie's obituary just now as I looked up my recently deceased father, Jack O'Neill's, obituary in the Darien Times. I knew Eddie at DHS when he was singing and playing with Pete Wolcott. Apparently his love of music continued throughout his life. He was a wonderful kid, humble and talented, I am sorry he died so soon.

Dearest Dana, Cooper, Spencer and family; Our Heartfelt sadness with all of you at the loss of Eddie. We lived in New Canaan all of our life and when we bought our first home on 507 Old Stamford Rd., the back yard abutted your back yard on Weed Street. Troy Schutte would take care of Cooper when you needed a sitter in the evening. Troy was our oldest son and he loved Eddie, Dana and Cooper very much. All of you gave Eddie the best gift a loved one could give.......that he died at home with all of you around him and not alone. Eddie was awesome and you all reflect him. We know your pain so well......Troy died last year at 49 and I want to tell him about Eddie, but we don't have to......you see they are together now. God Bless all of you. Richard & Sandra Schutte

I arrived as a new student in Darien as a true HS "freshman" back in the 9th grade until the next year. Life has taken me far afield from CT - but to reconnect of late all I can share as that the name "Eddie Mallozzi" would always bring a smile to my face. How nice to realize some have been able to have a 'hometown'adult life as I was more of a sojourner. My deepest condolences to his entire Darien/New Canaan "family". susie

There is a saying in German that competition raises quality. At DHS in 1961/2, Eddie and the Shenandoahs were that " competition" for John Nason and myself... We had to be pretty good to keep up with them. So if I eventually became an accomplished guitar player, maybe part of it due to Eddie? It's never fun to hear about the passing of an old friend. My sincere condolences to the Mallozzi family

Dear Dana and Family, Eddie was such a great guy! I only knew him in high school and didn't see him again until our 40th reunion! We were such good friends in high school. He liked to come over to my house and eat my grandmother's Greek cookies. She would tell me in Greek that he was such a nice boy. And that he was!! It was a privilege to know him and be his friend. I know he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved this great guy. My condolences to you and your family.

The last time I saw Eddie was at the DHS 40th reunion. I was struck by how little he had changed: A real and sincere wonderful guy who immersed himself in music and loved passing his passion on to his audiences. He mentioned how he remembered my dad recording his group. My father so enjoyed him, and it is comforting to know he was a part of my dad's life. My thoughts are with his family.

Like all the Mallozzi's, Edward was a pleasure to work with. He brought energy and a smile to every day during the time I had the privilege to be an employee of Bob Sports, Inc. With his passing so passes some of the gentility of life. It is the passing of an era. A fading era of gentlemen, honor, chivalry. He like the institution that Bobs Sports became over the years will be sorely missed by those of us who had the privilege of knowing men like him and businesses like Bob Sports, Inc.

Eddie was such a focal point to our Darien High School Class of 1962. His personality and talent enriched so many of our lives during those high school years and beyond adding a little needed culture to our young lives. Having moved from Connecticut after high school and living in the midwest and eventually in the western part of the country it was hard for me to keep in touch with classmates on any regular basis. However, when I was in communication with classmates Eddie`s name was always in the mix. He was a great guy and will be sadly missed. I want to express my sincere condolences and prayers to his family and friends.

Dear Dana and family, Everyone remembers Eddie's music, I remember two incidents involving skiing, sort of. When our 3rd grade teacher told me I shouldn't be wearing clodhoppers to school, Eddie jumped to my defense and said they were ski boots and quite appropriate for a snowy day. 20 years later I sent a friend in the market for a pair of Head 360s up to see Eddie in New Canaan and Eddie gave him a discount. A kind spirit always. I know you'll miss him, but remember, just like a ship that goes over the horizon, he's out of sight now, but we'll all go over the horizon eventually, and there he'll be!
