I'm so saddened to learn of Keith's passing. He was always so friendly every time I was at his nursery buying flowers. My son and I even enjoyed petting his dog Anna. His family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Keith touched so many of us with his kind spirit and unfailing advise regarding all things growing. Just last month we had a conversation about mulch that at the time seemed important, and now seems silly. I will miss you Keith.

We are so sad to hear of Keith's passing. Condolences to Keith's entire family, friends, and employees. I have worked next door to Keith for 15 years and he helped me decide on the most beautiful wedding flowers. My husband and I will miss chatting with him on our weekend visits to the Garden Center. You will always be in our thoughts.

Keith was a great friend in New Canaan schools in 7th and 9th grade before I moved away to California. I spent the night at his house a few times and we always had a great time and did not get into any trouble, amazingly enough. It was surprising to return to Darien about 20 years later and buy a house right near the Gardeners Center, and find him right there. We saw him there often and he was one very diligent business owner. He was always on hand, either ordering in the office, walking the yard, or running the register. He noticed everything and knew everything, always a warm greeting and lots of great advice. It was part of the rhythm of the town to stop in at GC and see Keith there, and to pass by and see his Jeep right in place where it belonged. No, it won't be the same now, a big loss for the many Keith Barker fans.

I and my wife Kate were shocked to hear yesterday from Bob at The Sugar Bowl what happened to Keith. I have been going to the Darien Garden Center since 1992 22 years to get advice on my lawn. He was a great guy like a friend and I will miss him. Always wiling to help and always cheerful. He is in that Big Garden Center now. Tom and Kate

It says a lot about a guy that you can know him only through stopping in to his store once in a while, yet be absolutely shocked and saddened to hear of his passing. Mr. Barker was memorable for his helpfulness, his knowledge, the character of his business and his employees, and his warmth. My deepest sympathies to you, his family and friends.

Such sad news. My deepest condolences to Keith's family. I'll never forget skipping a senior-year Friday in high school to see the New York premiere of "2001: A Space Odyssey" with Keith and Barb; a very futuristic movie! ....only to come out of the theatre and find that Keith's VW had been towed! He certainly enjoyed and lived life to the fullest!

I am so sad to hear of Keith's passing. I went to the Gardener's Center several times a week - with plastic bags of bugs, twigs, leaves, flowers, soil or questions. Keith answered each and every one. He was an encyclopedia of information and practical advice to all. Some people like to go out for coffee, I preferred to stop in and browse at the Gardener's Center, play with Anna, search for the cats and talk to the warm and friendly staff - it was a wonderful environment that Keith created. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy lives on in all the gardener's he nurtured for 30 years. God Bless.
