Dear Brown family, I send my condolences for your great loss. I haven't seen Malcolm since childhood, but I remember him as a kind, larger than life person who stands out in my memory. We had many friends in common but weren't close. One evening when we were in a large group that had gathered at a local beach in Darien, a wanderer who was much older than our teenage selves approached me in a very rude manner and trapped me between two cars in the public parking lot. Malcolm noticed what was happening and came over immediately and in a commanding way let the guy know he needed to move on and leave me alone. I'll never forget his doing that, and how protected I felt and how much I have always admired and remembered that he stood up for me. He was that kind of guy way back when, and I'm sure he remained a stand up guy throughout his life. I imagine he must have been a wonderful Dad and husband. Again, my sympathies for your loss. Truly, Karen Gidley Mulvaney

Dear Dale and family, Our hearts go out to you all. We know what a big presence he was in your lives and how much he will be missed. May God give you the strength to cope with such a hugh loss. We hope all the happy memories will help you get through these difficult days. We will remember Malcolm for the caring and generous person that he was. All the memories will bring a smile to our face when we think about weekends at the farm and Malcolm claiming the big poster bed as his when the rest of the Bothwell's slept on the floor. Snowmobiling with Steph as a toddler tucked into his chest, weekend outdoor concerts, parties at your house and so much more. With loving thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about Malcolm's death. He was the definition of courageousness and positive strength during the long years of his illness. I shall miss the visits we used to have when he would come and chat with my parrots. I last spoke with Malcolm following Hurricane Sandy, and he was as dedicated and intense as ever about the overwhelming amount of work to be done. My thoughts are with all of you at this very sad time. I am sorry to say my husband and I will be out of the country at the time of your services, and I am very sorry to not have a last chance to say goodbye to a terrific guy who will be truly missed. He was one of those people who made a difference. Melissa H.
