Obituary of John N. Campbell

John N. Campbell, a resident of Stamford, CT and a former Darien resident, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2013 in Ephrapah, NY. Born on July 6, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Frances and Sara Campbell. He was 70.
John graduated from Horace Greeley High School in Chappaqua, NY and received a business degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. He served in the U. S. Army from 1967 to 1972. He worked in IT Sales for IBM, Wang Technologies, and Zycad Corporation before retiring in 1998.
After retiring, John enjoyed remodeling homes with his wife, volunteering his time at the Good Dog Foundation, playing bridge, flying his Piper airplane and forever trying to improve his golf game. He recently took up photography, metal sculpture work at Silvermine Art Center and wood working on his home lathe. His greatest passion by far was spending time with his family and volunteering as a pilot for Angel Flight, a non-profit group that arranges free air transportation for the sick.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Post Campbell; his daughters, Kimberly Campbell Conti and husband Christopher Conti of Rutherford, NJ; Amy Campbell and husband Todd Bennett of San Francisco, CA and three grandchildren , Clyde Bennett, Charlie Conti and Cooper Conti. He is also survived by a sister, Sally Goit of West Palm Beach, FL and a brother, Bart Campbell of Patterson, NY. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Robert M. Campbell.
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Services and interment will be private.
