To the Campbell Family, In the days and weeks since this tragic event I have come to appreciate the dedication and commitment of time and resource that John made to the community as an Angel Flight pilot. I recall how excited my sister was when she learned that she and her husband would be able to avail themselves of this wonderful service. I read that John was an avid golfer and in that respect he had more in common with Frank than just being Veterans. Frank loved to play golf and he even made golf clubs as a hobby and as a small enterprise in his retirement. I suspect that they learned quite a bit about each other in the brief time they spent together. On behalf of our family, please accept our sincere condolences and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Larry LaTour (Evelyn Amerosa's brother)

Dear Friends and Family, I'd like to say a little bit about how much John and his support have meant to me through the years. I met John soon after 9/11, when my career as a pilot had almost completely stalled. In those dark days, there were no airline jobs unless you had experience flying a multi-engine aircraft. It was an impossible situation for most flight instructors like myself, who could only log time in single-engine planes while giving lessons. One day, John came in to our office to see if he could copy one of our charts. In one of the most pivotal moments of my life, I asked him if I could fly with him sometime. Mind you, he did not know me, and had no reason to help me out, or let me join him in his beautiful Piper twin. But to know John is to know he was truly an angel; it sounds silly but the truth of the matter is that he was my angel. Without the hours I logged with John flying angel flights in his plane, I would not be a professional airline pilot today. I might not have my beautiful wife and two children. I shudder to think how my life might be different. John was such a wonderful man. He used to pick up his phone with a sort of special flair. "Hey there, Sunshine," he would say. He always came through for us, coming all the way to Nantucket to join in our wedding celebration. We treasure those memories, now more than ever, and I will never, ever forget him. Godspeed, John Campbell.
