Obituary of Salvatore Armenio

In Memory of Salvatore Armenio Salvatore (Sal) Armenio, 70, passed away peacefully from this life on January 22, 2014. Born in Flushing, NY, Sal was the youngest son of Angelo and Jennie Armenio. Sal graduated from Holy Cross High School in Bayside, NY and went on to graduate from Boston College where he played football having earned a full athletic scholorship. While in college he was a part of the ROTC program and later served his country proudly as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam in 1966-1967. Upon arriving home Sal met his beloved wife, Ruth Carol Kappas, and they married in 1968. Together they raised two daughters in Manhasset, Long Island. Following in the footsteps of his father, Sal became a business owner with his brother Tony. Together they established Sal Antony, a ladies' clothing design and manufacturing company based in Manhattan. Sal was an avid sports fan, watching every game of his favorite football team, the NY Giants. He also enjoyed playing both golf and tennis. Family and friends were very important to him, especially his time spent with his six grandchildren. Sal is survived by his beloved wife Ruth of 45 years, daughter Karen and son-in-law Andrew Bogdan of Darien, CT and daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Pablo Vegas of Columbus, OH. He is a cherished grandfather to Jack, Sarah and Kate Bogdan and Isabella, Olivia and Vince Vegas. Sal was a loving brother-in-law and loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and cherished brother, Tony. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday, January 27th at St. Luke's Parish, 1864 Post Road, Darien, CT at 11:00 AM.
