Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Murray

Mary Elizabeth Murray, 87, of Lenox, MA and formerly of Darien, CT passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2007 at Mt. Greylock Extended Card Facility in Pittsfield, MA where she was a resident for a short time. Born on February 27, 1920 in Dubuque, IA, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Mary (Kilty) Lindenberg. Mary attended Visitation Academy and Clarke College in Dubuque, IA. She married Charles D. Murray (also of Dubuque) on April 10, 1947 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City and the Murray’s moved to Darien in 1952, living there until 1997. Mary was primarily a homemaker and later worked for and retired from Union Trust (now Wachovia Bank) in Darien. Family and friends were always welcomed in the Murray home. In their later years Mary and her husband also enjoyed sailing, traveling, and entertaining on their boat. She was a long time parishioner and a member of the choir of St. John R.C. Church. She is survived by her four children, Daniel Murray and his wife Alina Hernandez of Kent, CT; Michael W. Murray of Pittsfield, MA; Mimi Murray-Eastman of Quechee, VT; Lolly Murray of Pittsfield, MA; three grandchildren, Caitlin Eastman, Luke Eastman and Maeve Murray; and one great granddaughter, Lilith Helina Murray. She is also survived by a brother, Bill Lindenberg of Belleville, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles D. Murray in 1997 and a sister, Lora Dougherty in 2004. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 1:00 PM at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
