Obituary of Frances Georgiana Hurley

Frances Georgiana Hurley 94, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully with family present on May 16, 2017. Born October 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Martin. Frances, through the years, worked at Noroton Publishing, Conde Nast, and Weda Pump. But her main job was being a loving and devoted mother and wife. Frances is survived by her loving and devoted children Robert Hurley of Stamford; Jane Nordwall and husband Bjorn Nordwall of Chapel Hill, NC; loving grandchildren Bjorn Ryan Nordwall and Cory Sofia Nordwall of Chapel Hill, NC; sister Barbara Morris of Milford, CT; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Francis of 66 years and sisters Josephine Brammer, Irene Morgan and Maria (Moe) MacDonald. Frances loved knitting, embroidery and jigsaw puzzles. She knitted Christmas stockings for countless family and friends. She also knitted Christmas stockings for Prince's William and Harry for which she received a thank you from the Lady-in-Waiting to H.R.H The Princess of Wales. She also knitted Christmas stockings for the McCaughey septuplets. The Christmas stocking for the McCaughey septuplets were shown with the family in a December 1999 Ladies Home Journal article. A Graveside Service will be held at St. John R. C. Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM.
