Obituary of Rolf Karl Liebergesell

Rolf Karl Liebergesell, 78, of Darien, CT., passed away at Stamford Hospital on June 29, 2011. He is survived by his wife Sachi Liebergesell and four children, Susan Bunda, Alex Liebergesell, Manya Ross and Ann Ferlauto. Rolf Liebergesell was born in 1932 in Osnabrck, Germany. In 1954 Rolf came to the United States to study at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona and Wayne State University in Michigan, where he received his MBA degree. He began his career in the banking industry, then served over twenty years at Chrysler Corporation, where he executed the first joint venture between an American and a Japanese automaker. Subsequently, Rolf worked at ITT Corporation in Brussels, Belgium and at Teves, an ITT manufacturing subsidiary in Frankfurt, Germany. He became the President and CEO of Farrel Corporation in Ansonia CT in 1986, and retired in 2006. Rolf also served as Board Director of the Licia-Albanese-Puccini Foundation, Greenwich Symphony Orchestra and Bel Canto Institute. A memorial service will be held at St. John Parish, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT., on Saturday July 23 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation, 8 East 69th Street, New York, NY 10021.
