I came to know Pieter many years ago, having met him from time to time at Netherland Club events. I will always remember him as welcoming and gracious, and willing to share his most interesting stories from his days during World War II and the Phillipine adventures. My heatfelt condolences to the family. Isaac Druker

My wife Anke and I would like to offer our deepest condolences to Geertjen and her family for the loss of husband, father and grandfather Pieter Hans. We have known Pieter Hans very well during our term as Consul General of The Netherlands in New York and we became good friends. I always appreciated his counsel and valued his advice. The contribution of Pieter Hans to the liberation of The Netherlands from Nazi occupation as well as his valuable and prominent role in the Netherlands community in New York were recognized in his appointment as Officer in the Royal Order of Orange Nassau. Pieter Hans was a true gentleman and in his heart he always remained a true Dutchman as well. We will remember him with love and respect and our thoughts are with Geertjen and the Hoeks Family. Anke and Bob Hiensch
