Schwandt Families, It is hard to find the words to express our feelings of grief, shock, and disbelief, but know you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Island summer adventures, working in the Bike Shop, pick up basketball games, a chance meeting before a Packer game, and many other memories of happy times with Reed will be with us always. May God bless you all and give you strength and comfort.

My heartfelt condolences to Renee, kids and family. There are no words that can express how shocked and saddened everyone is. Reed had so much more to give, learn and share. He was always the guy on research trip who was asking the tough questions but also had some of the best jokes. We traveled many times together, many trips it was the same posse to meet with bank managements and search for the truth and the next investment idea. But away from the business, he was a devoted family man, loved life and was passionate about making a difference. Reed, there is an empty spot in our hearts now. It will be there for a long time as none of us can understand why you aren't here. You were a good friend to many...prayers go out for you and your family as we all grasp with this reality. This clearly puts life into perspecitve, to cherish every moment, grab all the hugs we can get and never take anything for granted. You are dearly missed my friend.

Renee, I am thinking so much of you and am praying so hard for you and for the children. I am so sorry. Paul reminded me this week that I was always basically trying to set him up with Reed back in the day (when Sebby called Isabelle "Inbell"), saying how much he and Reed would've gotten along - their meticulous minds, consummate professionalism, responsible nature, utter devotion to their families - not to mention best friendship with their respective spouses - reminded me so much of one another. I'm grateful that you and Reed found one another in this world and am so deeply sorry that he left you and your babies way, way too soon. I am so sorry, My Friend.

I got to know Reed professionally several years ago and our paths would cross regularly at investor meetings and conferences. From our first meeting, it was clear that he was always prepared, very sharp and insightful. More importantly, he was genuinely friendly and his demeanor and wit were always positives, whether in a meeting or just catching up generally. A great guy and a real pro and we will miss not being in his company. It was an honor to know him and my colleagues and I send our deep condolences to his family and friends.

Renee, I cannot fathom what you and your family are going through. Rest assured, the entire investment community is shocked and deeply saddened by his passing. Reed was one of the sharpest bank analysts on the street; his questions were challenging, thought provoking and insightful. However, he had a charming demeanor that is unique in this business. Reed will be missed. You and your family will remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Reed Schwandt was my favorite bank investor. I had the privilege of spending over a decade with Reed as a colleague on the buyside. Reed was a brilliant investor, he possessed the most inquisitive mind Ive ever come across, Reed was THE thought leader in the bank space. Im deeply deeply sadddened to lose this very good friend. He taught me so much over the years. When Id walk into a boardroom and see Reed sitting there, I knew it was going to be a great day and I would come out smarter at the end of it. I cant begin to rehash all the memories Playing "Buck in a Cup" at PNC Park in Pittsburgh; Ordering one more round at Bond Bar in Boston to try to squeeze the last bit of conversation out of bank mgmt teams at the BAAB conference; riding in the beat-up 1980s taxi sedans in Birmingham looking for restaurants; explaining to Reed why I always preferred to stay in Greensboro rather than downtown Winston Salem; soaking up the banter b/n Ed Wehmer and Johnny Allison over cigars in Marthas Vineyard; watching Reed proudly wear his Greenbay Packers tie into the USBancorp boardroom in Minneapolis (USBank has the naming rights to the Vikings Stadium); stomaching Reed hitting on 15 when the Blackjack dealer showed a 6 only to win the hand; watching Reed meticulously scribble notes from Bob Wilmers meetings in Buffalo (one of his favorite CEO's), having a group of investors tease me for traveling too much and looking over at Reed who would show me nothing but a smile of respect. Reed worked really hard he travelled A LOT but he never lost sight of the bigger picture he allowed himself to have fun and he always spoke excitedly and happily about his family at home. Reed Schwandt earned so much respect, not just from me but by so many around him. I was at a conference today and executive after executive shared stories with me about memories with Reed and asked me to pass along their heartfelt condolences. See Reed touched so many people to the point they feel compelled to share their memories Im so sorry for Reeds family that lost Reed way, way too soon. The Reed I know would want us all to smile and carry on inquiring and soaking up knowledge. Im eager to contribute to the Renee Schwandt trust when its established. Reed shared with me so much of his time, wisdom, guidance, mentorship, and laughs it will be my honor to help contribute to taking care of his family.

His smile is contagious, and everyone looks forward to seeing him. He is bright and would challenge those of us on the receiving end of his questions... but he always does it with respect and humor. I will miss him, but I know without doubt that he is going to be there for his family when they need him most.
