Obituary of Nancy Ferns Simpson

Nancy Ferns Simpson, daughter of the late Robert Morrison Ferns and Grace Talcott Ferns, died at home, Monday, September 19, 2011 following a long illness. Born September 25, 1927 in Bronxville, NY, Mrs. Simpson attended Abbot Academy, Knox School and Barmor School in New York City. She was married to her husband, Harold B. Simpson Jr. in 1949 and moved to Darien in 1955 where she devoted her life to her growing family's activities with patience and love. As her children grew up, she served for many years as a Teacher's Aide at Hindley School. She was a member of the DCA and also served in a voluntary capacity with the Darien Chapter of the American Red Cross. In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her five children Deborah Folsom of Bronxville, NY; William Simpson of Darien; David Simpson of Norwalk, CT; Jeffrey Simpson of Tampa, FL and Douglas Simpson of New Canaan, CT as well as ten grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM. A private family interment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
