We said goodbye to a kind gentle person on 10/24/14. It was standing room only. Not a surprise at all when you think about how many people's lives Bill impacted. For me Bill was a mentor & a friend. He was the guy who cared about you, your life, family, and career. I will miss his knowledge, humor, advice, and passion. My deepest condolences to Beth, Kelly, Kim, & Chris. We lost a special one in Bill. R.I.P. my friend.

Here's a painful switch . . . a real tight, real strong, real long Beth Flatley (and her beautiful family) HUG from the Van Hornes. You have consoled us on so many occasions; here's hoping we can do the same. Please believe, as I know you do, that a person by the name of Bill Flatley is still, and always will be, amongst us all. Now HE IS a guy who'd take the shirt off of his back . . . what a leader, what a friend. xo

Bill served on our advisory board at Local Thunder and brought insight, vision and energy to the company. I especially enjoyed when Bill got up here to Portland (Maine) as his enthusiasm and energy helped our sales teams, and all delivered with that infectious smile. I personally got to know Bill and counted him as a friend. I am so sorry that he is gone and share my deepest condolences with his entire family, of which we spoke of whenever we were together. Bill was a great leader, manager and friend. He was a go to guy for advice and counsel. We certainly didn't always agree but we found a way to compromise. On a European sales tour in 99 we had a week of great discussions, laughs and, yes, sales. We had spoken several times recently about getting together in Sunriver dring one of his frequent trips to Oregon. I will miss Bill.

Bill was a great man who would have excelled at any career he chose. Those of us privileged to work with him at Forbes were lucky he picked advertising sales. I have never known a more positive minded individual and it is this and his caring attitude towards people that stood out even beyond his many achievements. Bill set a great example for so many in so many ways, foremost being that his number one priority was always Beth and his children. Our thoughts are with you and your family.

Not only was he great to work with but was one of our industry's true gentlemen and one great connector. We soon also found out, while years apart, we grew up in the same Chicago neighborhood of Garfield Ridge. We certainly had a good laugh and a few stories to tell. Peace, Bill Furlong and Family.
