Obituary of Ann Sandor

ANN SANDOR, of Stamford, passed away peacefully in her home with family members at her bedside on Thursday, September 22, 2011. Born on October 8, 1919, in Presov, Czechoslovakia, Ann was the daughter of Carl Dudas and Anna Magich. At the age of five, Ann and her family immigrated to the United States. She was raised in Greenwich, where she was a member of the 1938 graduating class of Greenwich High School. After marrying Joseph "Beans" Sandor on November 22, 1940, the couple moved to Stamford. Joseph and his father built their house in the Cove, where Ann was a homemaker and resided for over 70 years. Ann is predeceased by her devoted husband Joseph, infant son Philip, and sister Marion Bohacs of Greenwich. She is survived by her daughter Judith Sandor of Danbury, daughter Alice Jones and her husband David of Stamford, and son Steven Sandor and his wife Diane of Darien; grandchildren Laura Sutherland and her husband Mark of Newtown, Carolyn Modugno of Burbank, CA, Michael Modugno of Danbury, Marybeth Zullo and her husband Brian of Woodbury, Donald Jones of Stamford, Stephen Jones of Stamford, Tracey Tillson and her husband Jonathan of New York, NY, and Joseph Sandor of Darien; great-grandchildren Sidney Spremullo, Ian Zullo, Jasmine Jones, and Joseph Jones; and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 26 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 27 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Benedict's Church, 1 St. Benedict Circle, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Darien.
