Obituary of Russell William Warm

Please share a memory of Russell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Russell "Russ" W. Warm, a beloved husband, father, brother, and cherished friend to many, passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 68. Russ, born on July 24, 1956, was a lifelong Darien, CT resident and a Darien High School ('74) graduate. Russ discovered his passion for culinary arts early in life and established himself as a well-respected chef throughout his many years in the industry. While Russ was well-known for his out-of-this-world culinary creations, it was his selflessness and genuine interest in the stories of those he crossed paths with that made a lasting impression on everyone he met. In 2016, Russ achieved his longtime dream of becoming a restaurant owner, which he opened alongside his wife, Victoria. Named after his daughter; Jennifer's Kitchen at White Bridge in Darien was a local gem known for made-from-scratch comfort food. Russ poured his heart and soul into every dish; never following a written recipe or exacting measurements but "just feeling it out" to perfect his recipes. His family and friends found this natural ability to be quite frustrating sometimes, as this meant they'd never be able to replicate his recipes in the same way he did. Russ adored his customers, many of whom felt more like friends. He was on a first-name basis with all the restaurant's regular patrons who came through the door. In 2023, Russ retired from his career as a restaurant owner to pursue a slower-paced life and spend more time with family. He spent the last months of his life working at Greenwich Point Park, which brought him great peace, as it allowed him to do what he loved most in life: spend time outdoors by the beach enjoying nature and meeting new friends along the way. For Russ, his family was the center of his world. Russ met the love of his life, Victoria, through mutual friends, and the two shared 30 years of love and companionship. Russ was a dedicated father first-and-foremost. A hard worker he was, yet he never failed to drive Jennifer to school every day and cheer her on from the sidelines at all her childhood sports games. Even on [what would be] his last day here on earth, Russ lovingly cared for Jennifer's dog while she went to work. As a loyal Mets fan, Russ loved catching a game at Citi Field. He also enjoyed watching car racing at Lime Rock Park, attending concerts at the Capitol Theatre, and taking family trips to Barbados and Wildwood. Russ is survived by his wife, Victoria, daughter, Jennifer (Ryan), brother, Kenneth, uncle, John, and step-daughter, Alanna (Nick, William, Maddie). He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Warm, and mother, Ruth Voorhees Warm. Russ will be remembered for his boundless love for his family, his kind spirit, and the joy he brought to those fortunate enough to know him. Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas More Church in Darien on Saturday, October 5th at 10:30am. Reception details will be announced at the service.
