To say that I will miss Geri doesn't begin to describe it. Last evening, I was reading an Ann Patchett book of articles and essays, and my immediate thought was "Oh! I have to tell Geri. She will enjoy this." Maybe she was reading over my shoulder from Heaven. I would like to think that.
I have only known Geri about two years--ever since I moved to Darien and met her through our book group. She was so welcoming. Everything she shared was sincere and deep. When Geri spoke, everyone listened.
She and I quickly realized we loved the same books, and we often shared them. Geri loved children's literature and urged me to finish my children's book. I will definitely do that, and it will be dedicated to her.
Oh, how I will miss our lunches at the Darien Diner or at Nino's. Rest in peace, my sweet friend.
