I was shocked and saddened to hear of George's passing and my heart goes out to his family. I enjoyed meeting George and Georgia for the first time when I rendezvoused with them briefly outside of Becky's in Portland, Maine along with Drew, and my niece Shannon. Although it was brief, their warmth, charm, humor, and friendliness made the encounter fun and quite memorable.
The second time was at Shannon and Drew's wedding. The roasting of their son at the rehearsal dinner had the entire room in stitches. It was clever, smart, fun and above all loving.
May he rest in peace.

My condolences to the Davala family, was very sad to hear the news of George's passing.
I was a client of his during the 2000's and worked a lot with him and got to know him well. I remember him best for being full of life and energy with a witty and charming personality, always upbeat and smiling ! He had lived life to the full and had some wonderful stories to tell that were engaging, interesting and entertaining. He was kind and always looked out for you and gave you his time and he genuinely wanted to help without wanting anything in return. A man of integrity and principles.
George was fond of his tennis and over a number of years it become a yearly routine for him to fly out to London and we'd have a day out at Wimbledon to watch the tennis, always on the Tuesday of the 2nd week. We'd then have a nice meal together where he'd entertain us with his vast bank of stories. Some very fond memories were created.
It's fitting that his Memorial Mass falls on that very same Tuesday this year. Hope he's watching and enjoying the action from above. One of a kind and unforgettable. May he rest in peace.

Dearest Georgia, Drew and Ali,
We are so sorry we won’t be there to honor and celebrate George’s life tomorrow. We are out West for a wedding. George and I were roommates at Wesleyan, in London for a semester and on Martha’s Vineyard. We shared many experiences and good times together. He was always there for me in both the good times and the bad. I love him as my brother and friend and will miss him dearly.

George was simply one of the best. His passing has left a hole in my heart and a hole in my world. Charming, witty, gracious, gregarious, smart, worldly, generous.....the list goes on. I am blessed by having shared part of my life with George, especially being roommates with him in the early 80's in NYC, when we were both young, reckless and penniless. We each managed to survive those humble origins and how poetic that 40+ years later, in September 2024, we would both welcome granddaughters into our world. I will miss you my friend, more than words can describe. May you rest in peace.

My friendship with George goes back to when we were in high school and somehow lasted through the years. We may not have seen each other often but we could pick up the phone anytime and it was like we’d spoken yesterday. I have many memories that I will always treasure, most filled with lots of laughter. You are missed, Davala and will always be remembered. ❤️

On behalf of the Board, staff and Club members, our deepest sympathies to the Davala family.
We were so fortunate to have George as a board member since 2017. He genuinely cared about the kids, especially the teens, and how he could help give a hand up. He was adored by the administrative staff. One day he surprised us with deli sandwiches and we sat around the conference room table listening to stories about his childhood and mother. He always made us laugh.
To say that we will miss him is an understatement. He was one of a kind, the sort of man you never forget. His memory will endure.
