Obituary of Assunta Gentile

Assunta Gentile, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away on June 13, 2024.  She was born in Grotteria Reggio Calabria, Italy on January 21, 1937 to the late Pascual Panetta and Maria Rose Ferraro.  She was 87.

Assunta worked for Darien Public Schools in the cafeteria serving lunch to the students every day.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Vincenzo who recently passed away in March of this year.  She is survived by her children, Joseph Gentile (Lurmares Silva) of Stamford, CT, daughter Maria Rose Gentile of Darien, CT and son Richard (Maria) also of Darien.  Assunta is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Joseph Gentile, Alexander Scott Gentile and his wife Sarah, Sean Vincent Gentile and wife Holly, Cassidy Ann Matthews and her husband Joseph, Jennifer Silva Gentile, Lila Silva Gentile, Anthony Gentile, Stefani Gentile, Rachel Gentile and Laci Gentile.  Also surviving Assunta are her great grandchildren, Graham Gentile, Theodore Gentile, Penelope Matthews and Laurel Matthews.

Visitation will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 on Thursday June 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas More RC Church, 374 Middlesex Road, Darien CT at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
