I worked with Tom and he was the consummate listener and encourager. My deepest condolences to the family and may the many happy memories you have of him bring you solace.

I ran the Finance Committee at NPC for a number of years and can attest to the first hand experience and commitment of Tom in all financial matters. What a wonderful temperment, he was always an even keel in troubled times, and his perspective was always invaluable. A very faithful servant in all his undertakings. He, and importantly his character will be missed.

Tom had the gift of encouragement. After the testy presbytery meetings during the 90s and early 2000s, he would make sure to offer words of hope to me and the elders of Christ Presbyterian, Springfield. We shared Biblical faith as well ties to Cleveland, both reasons to have Tom’s twinkle in the eye.
“Thank you, Lord, for your gift to us of this faithful servant. In Jesus name, He who was dead but is alive forever. Amen!”

When I retired to PSNE in 2015 and joined the Committee on Ministry Tom welcomed me warmly. We were both Duke grads, but the bond was less our alma mater than our faith and he was always eager to make me feel at home as we served the church in this way. Tom was a really fine human being.

Tom and I were partners in service on the council of the presbytery. I always enjoyed his good will, insight, and solid faith! What a good soul! My husband and I were both born in Ohio, and we understand well that sad devotion to the Indians and Browns. My son has carried on this fandom, and gave my husband a Cleveland Browns book called, "Why Is Daddy Sad on Sundays?"
There is no replacing Tom in this world, but we will carry on in his spirit, grateful that he rests in God's eternal presence, now. Rev,
Ann M. Beams(retired)
