George J. Raimondo, a longtime former resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2023 - his 92nd birthday.  Born September 25, 1931, in New York City to George and Anna (Albanese) Raimondo, he was raised in Brooklyn, NY, where he graduated from Poly Prep Country Day School. George received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hartwick College and a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University before working in the field of energy and mineral exploration, from which he retired in 1996. He served for two years in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was an avid reader of U.S. and world history and economics.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Fannie (Mormando), in 2020, and his sister, Constance. He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey and Douglas (Deborah), and his beloved grandson, Matthew. His brother, Michael, also survives him.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Darien Library, 1441 Post Road, Darien, CT. 06820.
