Obituary of Catherine Frances Lasko

Catherine F. Berger Lasko, 79, of Stamford, passed on into eternal life with her Lord on Mother's Day, May 13, 2001, at 5:30 PM, in Stamford Hospital. Her devoted husband of 55 years and her children were by her bedside.

 

Catherine was born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 20th, 1921 to the late Agnes Austerman Berger and Bernard William Berger. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sister Agnes Bernadina Berger, SSJ and four brothers, Harold, Bernard, Cyril "Buck", and on Wed., May 9, 2001, Justin Berger.

 

Catherine was a 1939 graduate of Rosati-Kain High School and St. Louis Business School in Missouri. She had been a resident of Stamford since 1948. She was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, the Catholic Daughters- St. Theresa Chapter, and was instrumental in bringing the Holy Eucharist and the Sacrifice of the Mass to nursing homes in the Stamford area beginning in 1974. The ministry that she envisioned, actively pursued, and participated in continues throughout the Stamford area today. Catherine was a resident at St. Camillus Health Center, 494 Elm St. in Stamford, for the past three years.

 

Catherine's life provides her surviving Family with a vast legacy of love and a devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Blessed Mother, St. Joseph, and the concept of Family Peace and Unity that she instilled and nurtured in each one of their lives, together with her "ball and chain" Joe. Her loved ones celebrate her "Life" with joy.

 

Catherine is survived by her devoted husband Joseph J. Lasko Sr., her beloved children (the "Eight Jo's"), Kathleen Jo Lasko Faryniarz and Frank Levey, Joseph J. Lasko Jr. and his wife Judy Vincoli Lasko, Patricia Jo Lasko Haywood and her husband Edward, Robert Joseph and his wife Vivian Chicerelli Lasko, William Joseph and his wife Wanda Beverly Lasko, John Joseph and his wife Susan Willitt Lasko, James Joseph and' his wife Felicita Sanabria Lasko, and Michael Joseph; her thirteen beloved grandchildren, Cathy Jean Faryniarz Katrenya and her husband Kevin, Christina Faryniarz and Luis Santiago, Cheryl Lynn Faryniarz Ramos and her husband Tali, Corrine Faryniarz, Joseph J. Lasko III, Laurie Lasko, Allen Haywood "BZ", Robert J. Lasko Jr., April Chicerelli, Kenneth Chicerelli, LaVinia Vega, Katelyn Lasko, and Stephen Lasko; and her four beloved great grandchildren, Ryan Krelle, Alexie Santiago, Samantha Rose Katrenya, and Isiah Cotto.

 

Family and Friends will be received at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Daren, CT on Wednesday, from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 7:00-9:00 PM. A Catholic Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, at 11:00 AM at St. Cecilia's Church on 1184 Newfield Ave., in Stamford.

 

Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Springdale.

 

Catherine devoted her life to her Faith, her Family, and her Friends. She was "a Rock," a "Bridge over troubled waters," a confidant, the "Wind beneath our wings," and an "Instrument of God's peace." She will be remembered and missed by all those whose lives she touched. Our hearts will go on.
