Obituary of John Francis Taylor

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

JOHN F. TAYLOR, of Stamford, Connecticut, died at the age of 64 on September 3rd, 2023, following a five-year battle with myelofibrosis, a form of chronic leukemia. Despite the progression of his disease, John continued to make those around him smile with his sharp sense of humor and sarcastic one-liners.

Born in Manhattan to the late Frank and Ann Taylor (neé Griesheimer), John moved to Stamford in 1964 at age 5. He lived in Stamford for the remainder of his life, graduating from Stamford High School in 1977 and going on to attend UCONN Storrs. John worked in sales and marketing throughout his adulthood, most recently at The Journal News in Westchester, NY.

An avid sports fan, he grew up a lifelong supporter of the New York Yankees and New York Rangers. Also a huge fan of European football, John loved supporting the Celtic and Crystal Palace Football Clubs. As those who knew John can attest, he had fantastic taste in music, books, and movies, and a love for pop culture, politics, and history that made him a source of knowledge on nearly every trivia topic.

John's most cherished roles were that of husband, father, and grandfather. John was married to his high school sweetheart, Darcy Taylor (neé Jewell), for 35 years and together they shared three daughters. John was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Ann Taylor, and his beloved aunt, Jean Griesheimer. John leaves behind his wife Darcy; daughter and son-in-law Julie Stoltman and George Dugdale; daughter and son-in-law Jane Taylor and Greg Berlin; and daughter Erin Taylor. John's grandchildren, Maya Stoltdale, Linnea Stoltdale, and Maxwell Berlin, filled his final years with love and laughter, with another granddaughter due in early 2024.
