Obituary of Edward H Krawiec

Edward Henry Krawiec of Darien, CT passed away peacefully at Maplewood of Darien on March 7, 2023.
Ed was the son of the late Bertha and John Krawiec. Graduating from New Britain HS in 1949, he was the Co-Captain and a starter for the 1949 State Championship Basketball team and was voted MVP of the 1949 CIAC 'All Tournament All Star team' by Connecticut sportswriters.
Ed served in the U.S.Army from 1951 to 1953, stationed in Germany. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Springfield College in 1958, followed by a Master's degree in 1961 and continued on to complete a 6th year degree in Education.
In 1956, Ed married the love of his life, Geri O'Brien Krawiec. A resident of Darien for over 60 years, Ed taught Social Studies and Geography at Middlesex Middle School for 34 years. After retirement, Ed and Geri loved to travel both around the country and internationally to visit friends and family.
Ed's greatest passions in life were family and sports. He had a special place in his heart for all things basketball and his Red Sox, and found immense pleasure watching each and every grandchild play sports.
Ed is survived by his wife, Geri Krawiec and children: Susan Delmerico of Jacksonville, FL, Nancy Maher (Christopher) of Wilton, CT, Dorie Krawiec (William Cusick) of Sudbury, MA, Michael Krawiec (Heidi Siebens) of Greenwich, CT. He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Sally Krawiec.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be on Thursday, March 9th from 5 to 7pm at The Lawrence Funeral Home 2119 Post Road in Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saint John's Church in Darien on Friday, March 10th at 10am. Interment with Full military honors will follow at St. John Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society-Connecticut region.
