Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Edward Gunn, 67 of Miromar Lakes, Florida and longtime resident of Darien, CT passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2023. He was born on Valentine's Day, February 14th, 1956 on Fort Belvoir in Virginia to Thomas and Patricia Gunn. Tom's father worked in the steel industry, and after moving 7 times before the age of 15, Tom moved to Darien and graduated from Darien High School in 1974. He was a resident of Darien for over 40 years and loved being part of the Darien community.
After graduating from Western Michigan University in 1978, he joined the Plastic Resin industry in sales and eventually started his own company, Gunn Plastics, Inc. in 1987. Based out of Norwalk, CT, he ran the business for 35 years until his passing, and truly loved building decades-long relationships with his employees, suppliers, and customers.
Tom was an avid Golfer and long-time member of Woodway Country Club and made many lifelong friends. When Tom wasn't on the golf course, you could usually find him at Woodway Beach Club, where he'd be enjoying a cocktail and watching the sunset.
However, Tom's favorite sunset was in Miromar Lakes Florida, where he purchased a home in 2015. Every afternoon, you'd be able to find him at the Miromar Lakes Golf Club. The last 7 years were some of the best years of his life as he was able to enjoy the fruits of his labor.
Another Joy of Tom's was taking trips with his family to Saratoga, where he would spend time at the track betting on the horses, a tradition he learned to love from his father.
Most of all, Tom was all about his family. He was a mentor, friend, and provider as a husband, father, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.
Tom is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kathy and 3 children, Max, Alex, and Samantha. Tom also leaves behind his siblings Penny, Chris, Patrick, Timothy and his nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be offered at St. John Catholic Church in Darien on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741 in honor of Thomas Gunn's late mother, Patty and sister, Tricia. https://www.cancer.org/
