Obituary of Jean M Zukowsky

Please share a memory of Jean to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

JEAN M. ZUKOWSKY, 91, of St. Augustine, Fla., passed away on September 7th, 2022, at her neighborhood home. She was born in Stamford, CT on March 29, 1931 to George and Catherine (Brady) McAloon. Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Walter, and her brothers, Robert and Christopher McAloon. A resident of Stamford for 82 years, Jean received her high school diploma from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949. She then continued her formal education at the Katherine Gibbs School where she received her executive secretary certification.

Known as "Jeannie" to her family and friends, she worked for the Avery Products Corporation throughout the 1950s before marrying in 1958 and becoming a full-time homemaker. Jean was a devoted wife who doted over her three children during their formative years. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. Jean thoroughly enjoyed entertaining family and friends – not only in her Glenbrook home but also during summer vacations and weekend trips to the family's home on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.

Jean rejoined the workforce in the 1970s as an administrative assistant for the Tom Ryan Photography Studio in Stamford. In the early 1980s, she took an administrative position with the Olin Corporation and retired in 1991.

She is survived by her son, Stephen of St. Augustine, Florida, daughters Suzanne of Stamford, CT and Catherine Cristiano of Westbrook, CT; three grandchildren, Alexander, Mark, and Anne; great grandson Cole; and sister-in-law, Olga Zukowsky.

A celebration of Jeannie's life will begin on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, with a viewing from 9:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m., at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, Connecticut 06820.
