Barbara June Poccia, a resident of Darien for 72 years, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at home in Darien. She was born on May 30, 1928, in Stamford, CT. Barbara was 94. She worked as a secretary administrator for the Unitarian Universalist Church in Stamford, CT, and also worked at Wee Burn Country Club. Barbara was an avid bowler and traveled to various bowling competitions. As a special classy lady, she loved animals, plants, her home, parties, and theater. Barbara and her husband John traveled extensively and enjoyed a wonderful life together thru 58 years of marriage. Well known and loved in the community, she will be missed and remembered by friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Linda DeLuca, and her husband Frank of Norwalk, a sister, Beverly Perry of Sarasota, FL, a daughter-in-law, Linette Mack Poccia of Darien, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Florida. Barbara is predeceased by her parents, Earl Winthrop Ruscoe and Charlotte May Abel Ruscoe, her husband, John Anthony Poccia, and her son, John Anthony Poccia II. Barbara had a true love of all animals and the care they received.
