Obituary of Dorothy G. Pierpont

Dorothy G. Pierpont, 93 of New Canaan, Connecticut passed away peacefully at home on July 5, 2022. She was born Dorothy Helen Galvin on July 4, 1929 in Yonkers, New York. Dorothy grew up in New York City where she attended Central Commercial High School where she was rated 'Excellent' in Business Attitudes in her secretarial course. She worked at Equitable as an executive secretary where she met the love of her life, Howard W. Pierpont. Dorothy and Howard married on May 7, 1974 and they resided in Darien, Connecticut. They loved to travel and spend time with friends and family at dinner parties, golfing, horse racing, football tailgating at Dartmouth, birthdays, and holidays. They never missed an opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest and were always so generous and kind. Dorothy loved going for long walks, going to the theater, telling stories and sharing memories about her life, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She was in the 9 holers golf club at Silvermine Golf Club, volunteered at the Church of Saint John in Darien as a counter and at the thrift store. Dorothy enjoyed a Manhattan cocktail, loved her sweets and was known to enjoy a butterscotch sundae after dinner. Dorothy treasured old fashion values, manners, was classy and instilled the same in younger generations. She was a wonderful and loyal daughter, sister, aunt, wife, cousin and friend to many. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen (Hanifin) Galvin, her brother Paul Galvin and his wife Margaret (Peggy), as well as her beloved husband Howard W. Pierpont. Dorothy is survived by her brother John (Jack) Galvin and his wife Jane, Howard's children Beth Schober, Barbara Tabory, and John Pierpont, Howard's grandson Torrence and his wife Vicky and their son, Maximillian, her nephews John Galvin and his wife Marie, Paul Galvin and his wife Patricia, Michael Galvin and his wife Patti Anne, Timothy Galvin and his wife Rachel, Samuel Galvin, her nieces Rose Egnacheski and her husband Dave, and Dorothy Galvin, her great nephews James Galvin, Michael Galvin and his wife Jessica, Conor Galvin, Jerome Galvin, John Galvin, Thomas Galvin, Matthew Galvin, Drew Galvin, the late Mason Galvin, Robert and Christopher Egnacheski, her great nieces Meg Troiano and her husband Joe, Kerry O'Connor, Kathryn Fragoso and her husband Sal, Liz Galvin and her husband Kevin, Jennifer Kimmell and her husband Adam, Maureen Arditi and her husband Brian, Erin Then and her husband Steven, her great-great nephews and nieces Joseph and Johnny Troiano, Luigi Avenia, Madeline O'Connor, Liam and Christian Then, Mia Kimmell, Sal and Prudence Fragoso, Paul and Josephine Arditi and Jack Galvin. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home from 9:00 – 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of Saint John in Darien at 11:00 AM.
