Obituary of Julie M. Murphy

Julie Murphy, of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, April 13, 2022 in Greenwich, CT. She was born in Richland, Washington, on September 23, 1945,  and was the beloved daughter of John and Ruth Murphy.

Julie grew up in New London, CT, with her parents and her twin brother, John, where she attended local schools. She graduated from Simmons College, in Boston, MA, with a BS degree in Retailing and Business.

Julie enjoyed a long, successful, and satisfying career in both retailing and as an expert in the design and merchandising of home furnishing products with a number of leading companies in the industry.

She is survived by her brother, John Murphy, and his wife, Martha Reed, of Darien, CT, her two nieces, Courtney Hewson (John), of Larchmont, NY and Kate Clark (Jim) of Greenwich, CT, and five grandnieces and nephews, Clara, Reed, Murphy, Burke, and Finn.

A special thank you and note of appreciation for her caregivers over the past number of years, especially, Rosie Clancy, Bernie Walsh, and Mags Carrabine.  Funeral arrangements are being handled by Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Boston Post Rd., Darien, CT.

The family will receive friends and family at the Lawrence Funeral Home, on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 374 Middlesex Rd., Darien, CT on Tuesday April 19, at 10:30 AM, followed by internment services at Spring Grove Cemetery, 41 Hecker Avenue, Darien, CT.
