Obituary of Robert Henry Darby, Sr.

Robert Henry Darby Sr., a resident of Shelton, CT, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his wife and children. Born on June 16, 1947, in Stamford, CT, he was the son of the late William Steven and Ann Marie (Market) Darby.  Graduate of Darien High School class of 66' and went on to Chamberlayne Junior College in Boston, Ma, class of 68'.

 

Bob was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps. Following his service, he was employed at Southern New England Telephone Company where he worked as a central office technician for 45 plus years.

 

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary Barbara Eddy Darby, and two sons, Robert Darby Jr. and his wife Lindsay Cody of Monroe, CT, and Stephen W. Darby and his wife Rachel Darby of Kingston, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Olivia, Leah, Erik, and Addison of Monroe, CT., and Madeline, Ryan, Aubrielle, and Elijah of Kingston, MA.

 

The family will receive friends at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, April 10, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Monday, April 11, 2022, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
