Maria Higbie posted a condolence

During my 10 years with the Greenwich Library, I was fortunate to get to know Mary. A kinder, more gentle soul no one could find. Mary never spoke ill of anyone but rather tried to understand why there might be discord in our world. She was so generous also, always bringing a gift to surprise her friends. If Mary knew a co-worker had an interest in something, she would make a point of sharing her knowledge about the subject. What I’m saying is that Mary really cared about her friends and loved ones. In fact, Mary just LOVED people as Christ does! She invested herself to know you and spoke encouragement to our souls. I hold Mary in my heart, a treasure without measure.

Mary's sketches. She also liked to paint, sculpt, and work in ceramics.

I just spoke with Victor, Mary's best friend since they met in the early days of her residence at Pathways. He remembers her dancing with him at socials after he retired and moved to a care home, where she visited often. He said she was wonderful support after his mother died and helped him through it. He told me of her participating in 'Midnight Run,' an event organized by her parish in which she hit the streets at night to give out food.
Victor will not be able to attend Mary's service, but he sends condolences and prayers to her family (all of whom he knows in detail despite having never met - Mary filled him in). He is blessed that I contacted him and even more blessed to have had Mary as his friend.
