Obituary of Filipa Manuela DaCosta Moraes Ingegno
Filipa Manuela DaCosta Moraes Ingegno, beloved wife of Alfred P. Ingegno, passed away unexpectedly on January 18th, 2018. She was a beautiful, creative, and elegant individual loved and admired by all who knew her.
Born in Lisbon, Portugal, on April 21, 1935, to Francisco and Leonilde Moraes, an 18-year-old Filipa was spotted on the beach in Nazar, Portugal, by Alfred who was on a cycling tour the summer between high school and college. That summer Filipa had been voted Ms. Nazar for her beauty and joyful spirit. It was love at first sight. After a five-year long distance courtship, Filipa married Alfred in a fairytale wedding at St. George Castle in Lisbon. After their honeymoon she moved to Park Slope, Brooklyn with her new groom where they lived for 56 years and had two children. In 2014, Alfred and Filipa moved to Stamford, CT, to be close to their daughter, Lilia, and to continue their fight hand-in-hand against Filipas Alzheimers disease.
Filipa was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Alfred, her children, Lilia Temple and Michael Ingegno, and her grandchildren, Katrina Jordan, Sofia Ingegno and Alik Ingegno. In Portugal, she is survived by dear nieces and nephews: Isabel, Z Joo, Ana, Vasco, Joana and Miguel, and their children.
A celebration of Filipas life with a Mass of Christain Burial will take place on Saturday, January 27th at 10am at St. John Church in Darien, CT. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org)
