Obituary of Jennie Anna Major Golden
Jennie Anna Major Golden, a former longtime resident of Darien, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at Notre Dame Convalescent Home in Norwalk. Born December 11, 1922 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Anna (Gavay) Major. She was 92.
Jennie graduated from Stamford High School. She worked as a secretary for Norma Hoffman in Stamford during and after World War II. She became a full time mother and homemaker. In later years, she worked at Stamford Hospital and volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Stamford. She was also involved with the Misfits Bowling League and the Guild for the Visually Handicapped.
Jennie is survived by her three daughters, Patricia Golden Flynn and her husband David, of Danbury, CT; Lynn J. Golden and Robin Golden Trotter both of Apollo Beach, FL; four grandchildren, Robert Flynn, Catherine Flynn Tyhurst, Melissa Trotter and Jeffrey Trotter; and three great grandchildren, Alyssa Tyhurst, Madison Tyhurst and William Major Flynn. She is also survived by a sister, Nancy Van Steeden Cox of Southold, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Golden, Jr. and a brother, Eugene Major, Jr.
The family will received friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
