Obituary of Eileen Marie Palma Smith

Eileen Smith of Lake Forest, CA died suddenly on Monday, June 26, 2006. Eileen was born on Staten Island, NY, March 15, 1957. Eileen grew up in Stamford, CT and met Greg Smith, her husband of 26 years, during her high school years. Their son Gregory M. Smith lives in Brooklyn, NY and their daughter Erin E. Smith lives in Lake Forest, CA. Eileen was a gifted artist who shared her talents with family, friends and countless students at La Madera Elementary School and El Toro High School, located in Lake Forest, CA. She graduated from Stamford Catholic (now Trinity Catholic) High School and attended the University of Connecticut – College of Fine Arts. Eileen was known by friends and family as a sweetheart. She passed on her selfless compassion by teaching CCD at Santiago De Compostela Catholic Church for many years. Eileen has been surrounded by a wonderful family extending across the country. Her parents ~ Sandy O’Neill Palma and James G. Palma reside in Stamford, CT. Her three brothers ~ James G. Palma, Jr. married to Kathleen B. Palma with Timothy and Rebecca of West Hartford, CT; Lawrence P. Palma married to Lorraine F. Palma with Kelly and Alison of Stamford, CT; John A. Palma of Fairfield, CT; and Gregory J. Palma (already in heaven). Greg’s parents ~ Nancy Smith and Alton Smith reside in Waterbury, CT. Eileen’s sisters-in-law include, Margaret S. Collins married to Michael Collins with Michael, Jr. of Wilmington, NC; Noreen S. Palumbo married to Al “Flip” Palumbo with Kelly, Thomas, and Matthew of Norwalk, CT; Bernadette S. Nuelle married to Mark T. Nuelle with Christopher and Sean of Sandy Hook, CT; and brother-in-law ~ Michael Smith of Norwalk, CT Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2006 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT (203) 655-6127. Eileen’s family welcomes you to celebrate Eileen’s life at a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, July 3, 2006 at 10:30 AM at Saint John RC Church, 1986 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT. Fr. Michael Madden will be presiding at the Mass and burial at Lakeview Cemetery, South Main Street, New Canaan, CT immediately following the Mass.
