Obituary of Edward J. Fisher, Sr.
Edward J. Fisher, Sr. a resident of Bradenton, FL and a former resident of Fairfield, CT, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2006 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, FL. Born December 8, 1924 in Stamford, he was the son of the late Edward William and Florence (McNamara) Fisher. He was 81.
Mr. Fisher was a graduate of Stamford High School, class of 1942. He worked for the National Cash Register Company as an office manager in several locations in the country for 34 ½ years.
He served in the U. S. Navy from1943 to 1946 during World War II and from 1947 to 1955 during the Korean Conflict as a CT Radioman. He was a member of Union Lodge #5 in Stamford; B.P.O.E. Elks Lodge #2572 in Orleans, MA; was a past Commander of G.A. Smith Post #74 of the American Legion in Fairfield, CT; past district commander for Fairfield County American Legion; past vice commander of the State of Connecticut American Legion; a long time scout and leader of Boy Scouts of America and a member of Sahib Shrine Temple, Sarasota, FL.
He is survived by his wife Frances Studwell Fisher of Bradenton, FL; one son, Edward J. Fisher, Jr. and his wife, Julie of Milford, CT and one daughter, Linda Lee Block and her husband Paul of Beacon Falls, CT and two granddaughters, Karen Block of N. Grafton, MA and Jeannine Lovering and her husband James of Mystic, CT and a great granddaughter, Amelia Lovering.
A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at St. John Cemetery, corner of Camp Avenue and Hoyt Street, Darien on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 11:00 AM
