Mr Jones was my sister's father in law. Our families got to know each over very well after Emily and Ross got married and spent some holidays together. I enjoyed Mr. Jones boisterous sense of humor. One funny memory became an ongoing joke between me and Mr. Jones. Somehow, we were all in the kitchen, and I had to reach over my dad I thought to get a glass out of the cupboard. I gave my dad, I thought,a little love pat on the butt, but I got a little more butt than I bargained for. It was Mr. Jones' butt not my dads! Mr. Jones got such a kick out of that, and said it's not every day that I get a spank from a pretty girl! Mr. Jones never lost his youthful love of life.

I met Mr. Jones when Ross invited me to spend Thanksgiving with his family my freshman or sophomore year at Dartmouth. Mr. Jones exuded spunk and warmth, and he welcomed into the family celebration.
As I came to know Mr. Jones and Ross and his brothers, I saw the similarities: competitive, boisterous (well, three of them), highly intelligent, mischievous, strong-willed, astonishingly perceptive, fun. I also saw Mr. Jones' expansive heart, his love for fellow men and women. And I saw his faith, at once serious about serious matters, and simultaneously lightly worn, which is the nature of joy.
Years later my mom handed me a tape of Mr. Jones talking about generosity at her church in Houston, the church I'd grown up in. I loved hearing his sparkling wit, mostly of self-deprecating. I learned a great deal about generosity and the Bible from that talk, teaching that complimented the life of generosity I had already witnessed in Mr. Jones and Ross.
I don't recall how many times our paths crossed at graduations, visits and Thanksgivings in Darien, but Mr. Jones' character pressed into my consciousness. I miss him.
To all in the Jones family, Stephanie and I pray for the Lord's comfort in your sorrow, for hope in the life that is truly Life.

Reg was an inspiration when I was a young staff man in a growing new consulting business. He was dynamic and you always knew when he was in the room. The degree of appreciation for his life is only exceeded by the magnitude of the loss felt by his family. With sympathy to his wife and family, I remember Reg with a joyful spirit, Tom Kelly

To the entire Jones Family: During my many years as St. Paul, I remember Reg's voice as he read scripture during services. I had a great time with Ross and Andrew in Sunday School and later in High School Youth Group. I will be praying for the Lord's comfort for each of you as you grieve this amazing child of God. Much love to you all.

As one of Reg's four daughter-in-laws, I was welcomed into the family by Reg's warm hugs & his tender heart. I will miss his hugs. I will also miss his beautiful masculine voice which filled every family gathering with love and spirit. I loved the twinkle in his eye when he was eating something he really liked or when he was smiling or telling a story. I am so grateful for all the love and high ideals he instilled into his 4 boys who are living incarnations of their father, each in different ways. His love lives on too in his 12 grandchildren and in my heart too. T

Dear Mrs. Jones and Family, I was terribly upset to learn of the passing of Representative Jones. I had the honor and the privilege of working for him when I worked for the House Republican Caucus. Your husband, father and grandfather was a man of integrity and character who fought stongly for his beliefs. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Sincerely, Jay Aronson

I haven't seen Uncle Reg in a while but I will always remember him at Thanksgiving dinners. He had that wonderfully big voice which led us into prayer. I think even my dad prayed on Thanksgiving. He was always a good uncle to me and my brothers. He will be missed by all who knew him. I hope there's a tennis court in heaven. much love, your niece Barbara

Our hearts are filled with sadness on the passing of Reg, and we are praying that the Lord will give the Jones family peace and comfort at this difficult time. We cherish the memories of the time spent with Reg and Judy through the years. We first met Reg and Judy seventeen years ago when our daughter, Emily, became engaged to Ross. We saw Reg as the Godly patriarch of the family. He was a man of strong faith, goodness, perseverance, kindness, and a man who loved God and his fellow man. These traits permeated his family life and public life in all that he did. The Bible, in 2 Peter 5:1-11, promises that, if we live this way, “We will never fall, and we will receive a rich welcome into the Eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.†We admired the care that Judy gave him during his sickness and know that her love and dedication gave him added good years of life. Their love for each other is a wonderful example of a blessed Christian marriage.
In loving memory, Eric & Joyce Nielsen

Steve and I were so sad when we received the call about Reg's death. We had spent so many happy times together over these past 20 years, most recently in Maine and New Hampshire. I shared with Judy that we believe that Reg and Judy set an example to all of us of how to live a full and happy life despite such an illness. They are both a testament to the power of love, joy and optimism. Judy, Regg, Ross, Gordon and all of your family--we are so very sorry.

"The best of the best" describes my personal respect for Reg. As a Partner in Arthur Andersen & Co. Reg was the "GO TO" guy for honest, straight advice on staffing decisions or client matters. Beyond professional advice, Reg was also a source of help on personal favors...e.g. two Southern Partners, Don Baker and I planned an motor excursion of New England...Reg,[knowing that we were way out of our zip code], politely, mapped out the perfect trip including B&B's and restaurants. Working together on several projects in his territory...e.g. the bankruptcy of the City of New York and implementing an accounting system for the State of New York...Reg, consistently, demonstrated his outstanding character traits. Reg, you were the best!

We have lost one of the mighty firs from our mountainside. When I returned from Service in 1953, I joined Arthur Andersen & Co. in NYC. A few years later Reg Jones appeared on my horizon and for the next ten years he was an important part of the landscape of my professional life. He was a delight to work with because he maintained such high ethical standards and remained singularly focused on client service. I would like to share one recollection wherein you will recognize the demeanor of the man. Reg walked into my office when I was on the phone. He picked up the picture from my desk and studied it. When I hung up he said,"You and Irene certainly make beautiful children." If I didn't reciprocate then, I would like to now. Reg was always so proud of Judy and 'his boys'.

Especially we remember having morning coffee, with Reg enjoying our view of the Sierra Nevada foothills. He made us appreciate it more. What a view he has now! Judy, As you well know, you and Reggie have been a blessing to many of us in Houston and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church. Your friendship over the years on your travels to MD Anderson often included worship at MDPC and fellowship over a meal afterwards. From generations past and to come, we are grateful for the message of generousity, and faithfulness Reggie shared with us from the 12 Stones of Remberance. Blessings to you and your family for sharing Reggie with us. Ralph Wheeler

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Jones family. I first met Mr. Jones at Emily and Ross' wedding. I'll never forget his powerful voice during his blessing at the wedding. He had such as presence and was such an eloquent speaker. I later saw his "softer side" when he would tear up as he would sing "The Red River Valley" to his grandkids. I feel blessed that I got to witness Reg singing that song. I also cherish the times that I heard Ross sing Amazing Grace to his kids at bedtime (...like Father like Son). Here are some lyrics to that beautiful song ("The Red River Valley"): "From this valley they say you are going. We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile, For they say you are taking the sunshine That has brightened our pathway a while. So come sit by my side if you love me. Do not hasten to bid me adieu. Just remember the Red River Valley, And the one that has loved you so true." Hugs and prayers to Judy, her sons, and the rest of the Joneses. Audie Nielsen (Ross' sister-in-law)

To all of the Jones family, I want you to know my heart is both heavy with you and happy to have known "Mr. Jones". As one who sat more on the bench than played on the field with son Ross's soccer team, I can vouch firsthand just how loud his voice as a supporting fan was! But you know what? I remember that the twinkle in his eyes was louder. When he wasn't laughing in that same voice he had that passionate twinkle. That was the first thing that I remembered, and I think for all us it is one of countless cherished things that twinkle on.
Best and love,
