Obituary of Mary Louise McCooey Erb

Mary Louise McCooey Erb of East Hills, NY died on February 28, 2007. She was 86. Born on July 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James H. McCooey and Winifred Stacy McCooey of Blackstone, MA. Mary graduated from Dean Academy and Brown University. After graduating from Brown in 1941, she taught high school Latin and French until her marriage to Ralph Edward Erb who, at that time, was a Lieutenant in the United State Navy. After World War II they resided in East Hills, NY, where Mary was an active volunteer in St. Mary's School in Roslyn, NY. She also volunteered in local community organizations, including the Girl Scouts, the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Roslyn Harbor, NY and the Good Wife's River Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. A former member of the Manhasset Bay Power Squadron, she enjoyed boating with her family. Mary is survived by her four daughters: Winifred Lom, Mary Beth Savage and Margaret Connelly all of Darien, CT, and Karen Lombardo of East Hills, NY. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Andrew, Stacy and Courtney Lom; Jessica and James Connelly and Katie Lombardo. In addition, she is survived by one sister, three brothers and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years and one brother. Calling hours will be Friday, March 2, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 3, at St. John's Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien, CT. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan, CT. Memorial donations may be made in Mary's name to: Brown University, Annual Fund-Class of 1941, P. O.
