Obituary of Lev Meshberg

Lev Meshberg of New York City and Carrara, Italy passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 17 after suffering a heart attack. He was born in Odessa, Ukraine in 1933. Lev Meshberg was an artist whose works were widely exhibited and purchased by numerous museums and private collectors all over the world. He received formal training at the Odessa College of Fine Art. Upon graduation from college in 1958, he joined the Union of Artists. In 1973 he, his wife and their son, Andrew, emmigrated to the U.S. For many years Lev Meshberg was represented by the Franklin Bowles Galleries in New York and San Francisco. He is survived by his son, Andrew Meshberg. His principal students were John Currin, Andrew Meshberg and Leon Lumelsky. Memorial services were held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, Darien, CT on Friday, July 27, 2007.
