Obituary of Jeannie Kay DeKlyn Armstrong
Long time Rowayton resident, Jeannie Kay DeKlyn Armstrong, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 27, 2008. Jeannie Kay was born December 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Dr. Ward B. and Louise (Bunny) DeKlyn.
Raised in Danbury and Rowayton, she attended Danbury High School and MacMurray College in Illinois. For a number of years, Jeannie Kay maintained additional residences in Florida and Natchez, Mississippi
Jeannie Kay was involved with various educational and developmental organizations. She was an active board member of Norwalk Community College. She has also been a supporter of many community and charitable organizations.
Additionally, she served on the board of the Wilson Point Association and was a member of Wee Burn Country Club.
Jeannie Kay will be remembered for her generosity, warmth and devotion to her family and friends. Her love for the water was important to her throughout her life. She had a passion for travel and enjoyed cooking and entertaining.
She is survived by her husband, Robert D. Armstrong; mother Louise (Bunny) DeKlyn of Darien; brother Ward B. DeKlyn, Jr., and nephews Ward (Chip) DeKlyn III and Todd DeKlyn all of Norwalk.
A memorial service will be held at The United Church of Rowayton, Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care of Southwestern Connecticut, 1029 East Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902.
