Obituary of William Russell Stevens, Jr.

William Russell Stevens, Jr. of New Fairfield, CT and a former long time resident of Darien, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at home in New Fairfield, CT. Born July 18, 1927 in Darien, he was the son of the late Bertha Pauley and William Russell Stevens. He was 83. Mr. Stevens worked for 38 years at Machelett Laboratories in Stamford. He also worked at various garden centers in the area, including Country Gardens, Jungle Garden and Locust Glen. Mr. Stevens was a Korean War Veteran. William is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doreen Ann Stevens also of New Fairfield. He is also survived by two sons, Wayne E. Stevens of Gettysburg, PA and Michael J. Stevens of Winchester, VA; and three beautiful grandchildren, Trevor, Samantha and Ryan also of Winchester, VA. A brother, Charles Stevens of Maine, also survives. He was predeceased by one brother, George Stevens. A service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Fairfield Memorial Park, 230 Oaklawn Avenue in Stamford.
