Obituary of Alonzo John Maffucci, Jr.

Alonzo John Maffucci, Jr., Lon to all his friends, passed away on Friday, May 19, 2011. He was the beloved only son of Alonzo and Elizabeth Corbo Maffucci. Lon was born in Stamford, CT on September 5th, 1923. He attended Rice Elementary, Burdick and Stamford High School, class of 1941. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1942. Lon served for three years earning tour battle stars, North Africa, Sicily, D-Day +1, Belgium and Germany. He was discharged in 1945 and attended Insurance School in Hartford, CT returning to the family business A. Maffucci & Son begun by his father in 1907 and is now run by Lon's son, James. He moved to Darien in 1954. He served on the Board of Directors of the Italian Center from 1956 1960 and was a past president of the Piedmont Club of Darien. He was a member of Shorehaven Golf Club of East Norwalk for 40 years and was an avid golfer and tennis player. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Yolanda Tuccinardi of Darien; his daughter Lizabeth Maffucci; his son, James John, and his wife Deborah Collins Maffucci and their sons, James John Maffucci and Daniel William Maffucci. He was predeceased by his sisters, Etta DiDomenica, Adeline Maffucci and Rita Remy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in is name to The Wounded Warrior Project, P. O.
