Obituary of Catherine Mary Savoca

Cathy Savoca, a long-time resident of Darien, died Friday on the 28th of December at Stamford Hospital. Born in 1949 in Darien, CT. Cathy graduated from Darien High School and followed her pursuit of music at Berklee College of Music. She received her Bachelor degree in 1981. After Berklee, Cathy focused on her love of Jazz, playing the sax in "gigs" from California to New York. In 1997, Cathy decided to settle down in her hometown and focus on teaching and writing Music and accepted the job as Director of the Music Education department at the Darien Arts Center. In 2009. Cathy resigned her position at the Arts Center and started her own private school of music. Cathy loved to cook; following in her grandmother's footsteps, everyone was always welcome in "Cathy's kitchen" and for those that were too sick to come; she would arrive at your doorstep with a "pot of soup".
