I was born and raised in Stamford and went to the Colony Grill there many times so we knew Fitzy since the 1960’s. When the Colony Grill here in Milford was about to open the owners did an interview on Milford Radio. I told the co-hosts to ask them about Fitzy. They said: ask them about what? I said ask them about Fitzy. So there did and the stories they heard both amazed them and gave them a good laugh. We along with thousands of other will miss you Fitzy big time. Semper Fi, Bobby Fiore. #Stamfordite and now a #Milfordite

Having grown up in Stamford, Colony Grill was the only place to get the best pizza, but also the best waiter any one would want, Robert Fitzmaurice, AKA Fitz. After 50 plus years of service, the whole town of Stamford and Darien, etc will have lost a friend in Fitz. Heaven has gained another Angel. Fly high Fitz the Lord embraces you into Heaven.

We only knew your Dad as customers of the "ORIGINAL" Colony Grill. When reminiscing about Stamford, the name Colony Grill always comes up ... along with Fitzy and Skeet. We have a family Christmas tradition where each gift comes with a riddle or a clue for the receiver to figure out. And each year we give our son a gift card to the Colony Grill. It gets harder trying to find a new riddle or clue for the same gift year after year. This year the clue was: "Don't chip the china." And the gift card was wrapped between two "china" plates from the Colony Grill. We thought you would enjoy our special memory of your Dad. With our condolences.

"Robert Robert!" As a former co-worker at A&P on Hope St, since my name was Robert too we had alot of down time to talk and build a fun relationship. Put out alot of Ice Cream together. Enjoyed catching up at his PT job at The Colony Grill! Fitzy was a great common sense person who taught me alot during my teen and young adult life about living and exploring life. Here is to Fitzy! With a Raised glass and a good amount of Mother's Milk I will miss you Friend!

Tommy, Danielle and family: I am so, so sorry and saddened to hear of your dad's passing. We all loved your dad. As a little, little girl I remember him dancing with me in front of the jute box and how he always had a smile for everyone. I remember him talking to my parents for what seemed like quite a few minutes and still being able to feed the masses with that quickness and dexterity. Hurdling around small children and chairs and people in the way. He had a quick step and an even quicker whit. He truly did touch a lot of lives in his own way. When I think about how many people he passed out "fine china" to it amazes me. Your dad will never be forgotten as there are so many of us that hold him so dear to our hearts. Our condolences and prayers are with you at this difficult time. God bless you all and RIP Fitzi.
