Obituary of Hildegard Christine Daus

Hildegard Christine Daus passed away in Norwalk, CT on January 12, 2018. Born on Valentines Day, February 14, 1937, in Queens, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph and Christine Raab. She was 80 years old. Hilde attended Forest Hills High School in Queens, NY. Upon graduating, she started her career as an executive assistant at American Chicle and International Paper in Manhattan. She married her high school sweetheart and together they lived in New Hyde Park, NY, and Barrington, RI, before settling down in Darien in 1974. Her husband of 49 years, Lawrence Daus, passed away in June 2008. She is survived by her two children and their spouses, Robert Daus and his wife Lisa, and Regina Daus-Haberle and her husband Peter. She also leaves behind her beloved grandsons, Ben and Spencer Daus-Haberle and Robbie Daus as well as several nieces and nephews. While living in Darien, she worked at Holmes School and two real estate agencies before commencing her 20+ year career at Preferred Properties in Darien and Norwalk. She enjoyed her work and colleagues there until retiring at age 70. She was, above all, a devoted mother and grandmother. Hilde loved to walk at the beach, go to the movies with friends, catch up on the phone, over lunch, or a cup of coffee, and to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Her quiet strength and unconditional love will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Calling hours will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Monday January 22, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.
