Obituary of Edward Michael Johnson

Edward Michael Johnson, 54, of Rowayton, died August 23, 2017, at his home from complications of Type 1 diabetes. Michael was born May 9, 1963, in Stamford, Connecticut, to Edward A. and Alice (Coffey) Johnson. He attended Central Catholic High School in Norwalk, Connecticut. He continued his education at the Connecticut Culinary Institute in Farmington, CT., graduating with a certificate in Culinary Arts. He spent his career in the food and beverage industry. He spent the last 13 years working for Mary Ann and Scott McGovern at the Rowayton Wine Shop. Mary Ann, Scott and their daughter, Bailey were his second family. Mike was kind hearted, warm and funny with a quick wit and a ready smile. Mike's friends and family were everything to him especially his nieces and nephews. He was enmeshed in the fabric of the wonderful community in Rowayton, CT and loved being a part of it. Mike enjoyed watching Giants football and other sports. He also enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He is survived by his loving father, Edward Johnson of Rowayton; sisters and brothers, Karen Johnson, Thomas Johnson, Elise and Charles Petrone, Patricia and Dave Gould, Annie and Jon Eckman; nephews and nieces, Will and Sam Petrone, Emma and Caroline Morton, Elena and Angela Gould. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Johnson. Interment will be held privately, there will be a celebration of Mike's life Tuesday August 29th, 5pm - Pinkney Park, Rowayton Memorial donations may be made to the JDRF.
