Obituary of Alfred Frank LaBanca

Alfred (Al) Frank LaBanca, a resident of Darien for over 47 years died peacefully on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Stamford Hospital surrounded by family. He was 81 years old. Al chose to write his own obituary as follows: First, I thank the Good Lord for blessing me with my loving wife Joan, of over fifty years, two wonderful children, Ellen and Bob, and their spouses, Scott Connery, and Mary LaBanca, and four loving grandchildren: Cortland, Nicholas, Lauren and Cate all of Darien. My cup runneth over. In addition, my thanks go out to all the souls that came into my life, giving me so much pleasure, and leaving me a great trove of magical memories that comforted me in my sunset years. It was they, my family and friends that so enhanced my life. I am in their debt. And to those whom I may have trespassed upon and those that may have trespassed upon me I forgive all and ask forgiveness. I leave this beautiful world reluctantly. I had a wonderful life. Please don't mourn for me instead, spare me a thought or two when you see a lighthouse standing in the distance. The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, April 8, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
