Charlotte A. Staak Obituary

Charlotte A. Staak, a Darien resident since 1949, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 at Courtland Gardens Health Center in Stamford. Born April 11, 1915 in Stamford, she was the daughter of the late John Schlechtweg and Amelia Effren Schlechtweg. She was 90.


Charlotte graduated from Stamford High School, class of 1932. She worked as a secretary for Galbo's Moving & Storage and was an administrative assistant at Darien High School.


She was a member of AARP, a former member of the Noroton Fire Department Women's Auxiliary, a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford, 60 Plus Club of Darien, was a Darien Old Timer's Athletic Association Honoree and a poet of some renown.


Charlotte is survived by her two sons, Robert J. Staak of Cornelius, NC and Barry C. Staak of Madison, CT; one brother, John Jack Schlechtweg of Trumbull, CT and three grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nehews and great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Ernest A. Staak in 1983.


A funeral service was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Stamford on Friday, November 11, 2005. Interment was held at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.
