Obituary of Ann Ward Gibb

Ann Ward Gibb, a resident of Darien, CT for 55 years, died on December 15, 2011 at the age of 86. She was married to John Richmond Gibb for 65 years. She was born in New York City on January 19, 1925 to Gregg Thomas Ward and Ann Robinson Ward of New York City. Her brother Thomas A. Ward predeceased her. She attended Laurelton Hall and graduated from Cornell University in 1945 with a degree in Fine Arts. During her undergraduate years, she was also an active member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was an accomplished artist and well as the mother of three. She particularly loved to paint the moors, beaches and cranberry bogs of Nantucket, where the family maintained a home for many years. She was an elected member of the American Watercolor Society, where she also served on the Board, Knickerbocker Artists, Allied Artists of America, and the Philadelphia Watercolor Club. She was also dedicated to supporting a number of charitable institutions including the local charities Person to Person, and Post 53. Mrs. Gibb is survived by her husband, John R. Gibb and her three children: Kathy Gibb Cutler of New Haven, CT; James Gibb and his wife Catherine of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; and Thomas Ward Gibb of New York City. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien, CT on Wednesday, December 21st at 11:30 am.
