Esther W. Austin, a long time resident of Darien, CT, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2005 at Norwalk Hospital. Born November 17, 1917 in Darien, she was the daughter of the late Harold Whitney and Grace Weber Whitney. She was 88. Mrs. Austin was a long time member of the First Congregation Church of Darien and was a member of the Women’s Association and the sewing committee. She was also a long time volunteer of the Darien Thrift Shop. She is survived by one son, Christopher J. Austin of Milford, CT; one daughter, Gertrude Montlick of Norwalk; two sisters, Grace Clarendon of Darien and Ruth Huntington of Minnesota and 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, John W. Austin in 1993 and two sons, John and Robert Austin. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Darien, 14 Brookside Road, Darien on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 1:00 PM. A private family interment will be held at Fairfield Memorial Park, Stamford.
