Jolyn Russell Cox, a resident of West Palm Beach, FL and Danbury, CT and a former longtime resident of Great Neck and Huntington, LI, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 in West Palm Beach, FL. She died of natural causes according to her family. Born March 23, 1928 in Dubois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Sanford Russell and Agnes Lawhead Russell. She was 77.

Mrs. Cox was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years with the last 30 years at the Long Island Jewish Hospital as head nurse of the labor and delivery department. She delivered thousands of babies over her 50 year career and brought so much joy to so many families.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Cox Torey and her husband, Don, of Darien, CT; a brother, Frank Russell of Reston, VA; a sister, Barbara Redmond of West Palm Beach, FL; three grandsons; Russell Cox, Jason Torey, Dylan Torey and 1 great grandchild; Kelly Lynn Cox. She is predeceased by her husband, Joel Cox in August of 2004 and one son, Bruce Russell Cox.

Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT on Sunday, December 18, 2005 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home on Monday, December 19, 2005 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
